Alright hey Max here, guess I'll post something up too.

I respect distance runners, I really do. The amount of mental power required to compete a distance race, whether its a 1500m or 5000m race, or even beyond that, is tremendous. Not taking any credit away from the sprinters though haha. But yes, there is a lot of factors involved in a distance race, and the fittest and strongest may not be the winner everytime.

I myself didn't take running too seriously during my secondary school days, I enjoyed a good long run every now and then, but never bothered to take myself any further than just leisure running. When I came into TP, I honestly had plans to join either dragonboat or canoe polo, hahaha. Somehow from a twist of fate and constant nudging Silas, who was my classmate then, I decided to join the short distance team. The team's a fun bunch who train and play hard, and I really enjoyed the times when I was training with them.

Coming to the first IVP I participated in last year, I decided to "betray" the sprinters and went over to the distance team, which I can tell you has a totally different culture and style. But the team has its own fun too! I can say that the distance runners in the team are very independent, I guess it has been cultivated by the way Coach Eugene coaches us. We do our own warmups and stretching on our own before he comes to give us drills and workouts to do later, and during workouts, we have to be aware of our own rest time and start our next rep when time's up.

I feel that Coach Eugene is a unique coach, he's definitely not the traditional type of coach who would shout and scream at you to do your workouts. I believe that he wants to inculcate self motivation and independence in all of us. Some may not agree with the running style that he's trying to teach us but I believe that what he's teaching us now will definitely reduce the risk of injury from running. Unlike me who refuses to get it right, resulting in my injured state now. Haha. You may not know, but coach actually has some plans for us, which you will see as the season draws nearer.

To the freshies who are still coming back for training, I can say that I'm really proud of you guys. I'm also glad to see that some of you are willing to join us for warmups at the reservior instead of the 4 laps on the track. I hope to see that you all peservere and stay on, and I'm sure all of you will find your way to being a competitive runner sooner or later. Always try to give it all every training and work to beat your personal bests!

Oh yes, some of the team trains on non-training days too, so if any of you are interested to tag along just let us know, always good to train in a group. And do take the opportunity to get to know the short distance people then!

So I'll sign off here, and see you guys on the track! =D

Check out the new challenge.

Contract as proof of the challenge.
The targets set.
The coaches approval and the signatures.

Okay today during our training for those who are competing on saturday and sunday. I suggested that there should be more motivation in the team and that you should believe in yourself. Therefore I decided to create a challenge. Those who attended the training and are running for the last all commers are to try and hit their personal bests and meet the target set on the papers. If not..............................

They are to shave their heads straight after the competition. Shave as in have a blade 1 or blade 2 haircut.
The targets are as above stated

Yun Kwang- the best jump shall be no less then 5.7m
Hareez- the best jump shall be no less then 5.5m
Me- 200m timing shall not be any slower then 24.6seconds
Adrian- 200m timing shall not be any slower then 24.5seconds
Max- 800m timing shall not be any slower then 2.22mins (this is because he is carrying an injury or else we won't let him off so easily)
Silas- 200m shall not be any slower then 25.5seconds
Safwan- 200m shall not be any slower then 25.4seconds
because Joseph did not go to training today I informed him to take up the challenge. And he finally agreed after quite abit of persuading. His target shall be
Joseph- 200m shall not be slower then 24.5seconds.

We already have all the signatures collected and coach as our witness. So for those who lose HAVE TO COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE. And I am Freaking serious.
So watch out all those who are not running this weekend, get ready to check out the new haircuts for the seniors on wednesday. This weekend will either be mass haircut day or time for celebration with new personal bests set.

Cheers
Adriel

my turn!

ok, Track and Field... It doesn't mean you're a tracker once you join track. It takes lots of discipline, determination and passion to being a tracker. Many people might think track and field is just all about running and running non-stop, and the main objective is just to get first. However, that's not what it is about.

For me, i used to be from a school without track and field and had to train ourselves. But, when i just entered track in TP, that's when i start to know what REAL trainings are, and frankly speaking, there were many times that i felt like giving up especially when not being able to hit the timings. Yet, one of the main reasons that i stayed on is because of the people in track (you guys know who you are). The times when you really feel like dying when doing workouts, the team would never fail to cheer you on and motivate you. That's what really keeps me going.

Even though now i'm studying in Sentosa and have to constantly travel all the way back to school for trainings, i'm still very delighted to come back. Not because my house is just opposite school... but it's the sense of belonging i feel when i'm in track. Although sometimes(ok, or most of the time) i do admit i irritate people by always complaining about being tired or 'shag', but comeon..you know...i still love u guys. HAH!

It's already the 2nd year in track and i have learnt alot from my seniors and of cuz COACH CHEW PENG. Though Coach might be sometimes be abit too "GENEROUS" when giving workouts, that's when we have to be discipline and really give all out for trainings. Nevertheless, the real superman in track is coach. She have to go always go around to correct us on how we run, jump, throw and she never complains. Also, the very 'shiok' massage that she always give after training, it's no wonder she's starting to have bigger arms than Naz. The captains, like ruth(being always so 'ON' when asked to help out with track), jayne (always ready with the moisturizer..right gerald?haha) and gerald (always there to when you need help) have really help build up the team and put in alot of effort for track.

Lastly, to everyone in track. It's the start of the season and let's all start working really hard together and i'm sure TP track will surely be one of the greatest. Even if not by winnings, the team spirit we have is enough. And thank so much guys! TP track will always be a family.

P.S: To all the juniors who just got into track, I seriously respect you guys for being able to 'tahan' this long and i hope that you guys continue to persevere and train really hard to improve. It's not all about winning, it's about the statisfaction you get when you know you have done your best. Never ever give up because you know the team will always be there to support and push you on. If you guys think you're determined to do well for track, just do it. At the end of the day its all about the passion.

I'm so like darn busy studying but got no mood now. Got 1 week left to study cause going to NTU for 1 week before Mid-sem. Curses. Oh well, back to the topic.

Well...track has been a part of my life since primary school. Throughout my years in track, i was given few opportunities and have gone through hell lots of training. Tough training has been moulded into me since the secondary school days(jayne should know why). Anyway, how i got to what i have today is through tons of training and coach Chew Peng's guidance. Not to forget my previous coach Mr Teo in secondary school. Anyway, its my last year in school and my aim is to break at least one of Iskandar's record before i leave. As such, I try* to do what coach asks of me. Though sometimes its quite tough, but i somehow or rather rough it out with the other guys.

But most importantly is the trust between us as trackers and coach. Whatever training she has put us through(no matter how tough or light) benefits us. For the freshies: Though training for you guys now is kind of wierd or boring or whatever(i know some of you guys are eager to wear spikes). BE PATIENT!! We have gone through the same exact training as you guys are going through now and honestly, look how far it has brought me to today. Lastly, i just want to comment that i love TP track for the family it is. Everyone has contributed to bring TP track family to what is has become today. Cheers to the captains: Safwan(for being the joker at times), Silas(for leading the track team. great job) , Max(for leading the long d team and trying to bring the long d and short d closer), Shu Yi(for leading the throwers and opening herself up to us), Jayne(for getting the moisturizer. lol!).

Just want to say that in order to lead, you have to be able to follow. Respect your captains and they will respect you.

Thanks coach.

This is the typical classic picture of us after training getting a rub down. Just want to say thanks to coach for going the extra mile to help us out by helping us remove the cramps from our legs and hamstrings. :D This year is the final year for some of us. Will be giving my best this year. Hope you guys will join me too! :D
